VICAM A Waters Business responds to modern food and feed safety challenges with its easy-to-use Fumo-V quantitative strip tests for detection of fumonisins in corn and poultry feed.
Fumonisins are mycotoxins, a product of several types of fusarium molds. Fumonisin B1 and fumonisin B2 are common and almost universal maize occupants and are found in most samples at levels higher than 1 ppm. Fumo-V is a rapid quantitative strip test for fumonisins, giving accurate results in just a few minutes. EU thresholds for fumonisins is 0.8 ppm for cereals based on maize and for direct human consumption, 1 ppm for other corn-based foods and for direct human consumption and 0.2 ppm for processed corn foods for infants and young children.
Fumo-V strip tests use the proven sensitivity and selectivity of VICAM’s monoclonal antibodies to accurately detect and measure total fumonisin B1, B2, and B3 at levels as low as 0.2 ppm and as high as 10 ppm. The single dilution sample preparation procedure saves time and materials, and the test strip develops in just 5 minutes. Digital results are displayed on the Vertu Lateral Flow reader, eliminating the need for subjective visual interpretation.
